Dr Ranee Thakar
Dear Friends,
As President of RCOG and with my Indian heritage, the AICC and its zonal committees and local associations are very close to my heart. I am continually impressed by the amount of work and great support you provide to RCOG Fellows and Members and the wider O & G Community in India, as well as your contribution to RCOG as a whole. I sincerely thank you for all you do to improve the health of women and girls in India and globally.
The College is particularly grateful to the Indian Fellows and Members who work with us to deliver the MRCOG Part 3 examinations, as examiners and exam centre organisers. With your support we will soon be holding the Part 3 exam in Chennai allowing all those taking the MRCOG examinations to sit their exams closer to home without the need to travel to the UK.
As only the third female President of our College in 93 years of its existence, and the first woman of colour to be President, I am immensely proud to be leading the College and very optimistic about the future. Supported by my fellow Officers, I am working hard on my presidential priorities, which include:
Improving gynaecological training; Race Equality - fairness and equity for all our colleagues; Maternity Safety and Climate Change and Sustainability.
Let us join together to progress our work in these important areas and to deliver our ambition of improving women’s health and healthcare worldwide.
Regards and Best wishes,
Dr. Ranee Thakar

Dear All,
We begin the New Year with great hope and looking forward to the great possibilities it holds. Last year was by no means an ordinary year. It was probably a year which none of us ever hoped to face in our life-time.
In however tough it was, it also showed us lots of new opportunities and catapulted the new technological advances and vaccine production at great speed.
Although not physically, we have all managed to meet virtually and keep up to date with new research and evidence.
I took up post in February last year and have not had a chance to meet any of you face to face. I realise now how much I miss coming to India and meeting you all. With the vaccine comes new hope and let us hope for more physical meetings this year.
Regards and Best wishes,
Jyotsna
